Interior Architecture 3
Assignment 1A & B
The first assignment (1A) for the semester was site analysis and site inventory of our given site at Slate @ The Row, Jalan Doraisamy KL.
We are split into groups of 5/6 with our own task, which my group took up the task of SITE MEASURMENT.
All the groups were required to be at the site on Monday 4/4 to carryout their tasks. My group and I took around 4 hours to measure the site, which includes the dimensions of the two floors, the ground and mezzanine, the position and sizes of beams and columns and also the floor to ceiling height of the three shoplots.
Attached below are some photos of us carrying out the tasks, and also our final outcome of our two A1 boards of measured drawings:
For the next assignment, its about exploring and case study.
We are required to look for an obsession of an object, and produce an infographic A2 of it.
The criteria of this assignment was to translate the infomation found/ researched, into graphics that reflect the obession in terms of colours, composition, choice of fonts, and what message we want to send out.
I chose big breakfast as my obsession as it is always my go to menu whenever i step into a cafe for brunch!
The information that i chose to show on my board are of course the nutrient in a basic breakfast followed by statistics of comparison between breakfast taker and the non, and lastly the effects and symptoms of the both compared.
My final. board i hose a bright yellow colour as my main colour, with some complementary of orang and black to contrast it.
As breakfast is supposed to conve, fresh, energetic, dynamic, my composition and font was not rigid, I used a more diagonal/radial approach in my board.
Attached below is my final board of obsession:
Assignment 2
The next assignment was the "story part" which is the base for our final assignment. "Post Apocalyptic Entity".
In this assignment we were required to do two things.
1. Story Board
2. Art Piece
The story board content has to be about how the word ends in our own context. For mine, i chose genetic mutation and destruction of a lizard.
For my artwork, I used elements such as the scale ofthe lizard, the genetic mutation process and also sharp edges.
Attached below is my final A1 Board and my artwork:
Being very honest throughout this project, I was very lost as well as idea-less. I dont really have a creative "flying" imagination as well as good model making criteria to begin with. However, I would like to thank Mr Imran for his patience in explaining to be and giving me suggestions and inputs on how extraordinary things could be like. Although this assignment turned out quite poor, im grateful for the insights from Mr Imran as well as my peers who did well in the exam for me to learn from.
Final Assignment
The final assignment was a combination of 1A 1B and 2. We were to use the space from Project 1A, the space function from Project 1B and the design elements and language from Project 2. We are required to build the space for a certain target audience and function. The project was splitted into three stages where:
Stage 1 : Target Audience, Branding, Space Programming & Operation
Stage 2 : Space Planning, Elevations, Sections
STage 3 : 3D Renderings, Details, Board Composition.
Attached below is. the progressive outcome of my final.
Overall this assignment didnt go too well either, but theres lots of lessons and insights that i obtained from it. I struggled alot with time and also technical issues like vray renderings. Although I managed to submit it before the presentation but i was still late.
My presentation board followed the concept of my project 1B, and the design elements in my space I took it from my project 2. I wouldnt say it was a successful design "transferring" because my project 2 was bad to begin with. However, I'm still grateful that i finished this project successfully and also learning how to use ENSCAPE (thanks to Mr Imran's reminder).
From the presentation, my two panels was very nice and explained my problems as well as pointed out what i was missing from the baords while not forgetting to credit me with things i did well. Hopefully i will bring this forward to next semester as a strong reminder to not make these mistakes again.
A very big thank you to Ms Aida being out tutor for this final project, your caring, patience and also treating us like your own child was very very very vital in keeping our minds straight despite facing problems. On the day before submission, where we missed the dateline, thank you Mr Imran and Ms Aida to willing to let us finish it up and pin up before the presentation, as well as those encouraging words that made us feel so touched.
