Theories of Asian Architecture
Assignment 1 : Topic Proposal
This assignment is the first part of asian architecture study where we were required to choose a specific topic area to talk about. My group chose Vernacular and Traditional Architecture and hence we did research on the Malay House which is relatable on our local context.

We are required to
1. Decide on a research area and then on a specific research title.
2. Generate a few research question that reflects on the research topic
3. Create a concept mapping of the research including the direction of research.

From this assignment, I have learnt that

1. It is critical that we understand the topic scope well to ensure we can generate questions reflecting on the title.

2. I understood that we need to have skills in being able to sum up and interpret what literature review we found to relate it appropriately.

3. I need to also be cautious of the language and grammar used so that it is in a right formal style.
Assignment 2 : Seminar Presentation & Poster
This assignment has two parts and it is a elaborate of the "Topic Proposal".
Both the presentation and the poster happens concurrently. The poster (A1) is a simpler and infographic version of the same content in the slides.

The task that we need to fulfil is
1. Based on the topic proposal, we need to gather literature review and interpret it in our topic context.

2. Methodology that we chose was CASE STUDY , hence we had to find a case study example that has enough information to connect with the literature review we looked into.

3. We should compare and contrast the Vernacular architecture with some present /current architecture.

In this assignment, the insights that I've gotten is:

1.It is important for me to understand the aspects in doing case study.
My group had fulfilled the first part of what a proper case study presentation should have, but we did not include any present day relatable example as a contrast

2. Presentation about case study should also refrain for using general diagrams or example, instead we should use the exact diagram from the particular case study.

3.In our case study, on the MALAY HOUSE, we have learn that in Malaysia's rich vernacular and traditional architecture, it is very obvious that lifestyle and culture are being prioritise to design the house they stay in then only followed by aesthetics.
Assignment 3 : Contextual Study
This last assignment is where we apply the knowledge we've learnt from the two previous assignment. We had to choose one building and conduct a contextual study on it.

The skills that I've obtain from this assignment is:

1.We are able to study from the present day building/ architecture and relate it back to our Assignment 1&2.

2. I understood the aspects in Contextual study not only from the surrounding but also internally of the building as well.

3. I am able to conduct a case study analysis on contextual study in a deeper way after going through these assignments.
