ASSIGNMENT 1 :KNOWING CJ LIM

This is the first assignment that we've been assigned with, which is to understand the concept and philosophy of the architect that we are given:

CJ LIM

This assignment has two parts where the first part is

1. Visual Research

2. Visual Narrative

Visual Research (A2) is to be able to interpret and show the architect's characteristics and to generate few keywords that relate to his philosophy and concept.

In my visual research, I've used a black colour background and also several lines with text being aligned on the curvy and wavy lines. The reason for doing this is because CJLIM is more towards an urban-architect which gives me an idea of using a CLUSTERING LAYOUT

The Visual Narrative (A3) is an continuous of the Visual Research where we create a narrative storey telling few basic activities that the Architect will be doing it in his ways.

In my visual narrative instead, I've linked the activities together in a flow from top to bottom, starting with the top "jumping down an opening of a ground of a city". This is related to one of CJLIM's city design where a city can have other city built right above it.

From this assignment the insight I have got is:

1. Having to research in depth of an Architect isn't just about his "design element" or his widely used architectural style, but in my opinion more if his philosophy and his way of life, of implementing his design into life where form follows function.

2. In a visual research presentation board, it is important to implement the architect's style into the composition and design and not just blindly sort out data in a boring and gridded layout.

3. For visual narrative, at first I do not understand what does it actually mean, but towards the end I realised the concept of it is to just tell a story of how the activities will be happening but in a creative and out of the box manner.
